Electrical Engineer – Entry Level/Early Career

Summary/Objective

Provide high quality electrical engineering consulting services to our clients.  The Electrical Engineer is expected to work and assist in all aspects of electrical and control systems design; this includes low and medium voltage power distribution systems, instrumentation, electrical controls, and overall design documentation. In addition, the incumbent must also be able to develop and prepare detailed equipment specifications, initial concepts and scopes of work, construction cost estimates and engineering support.  As an Electrical Engineer, the employee is expected to follow company work processes and standards to maintain a high-quality work product and work in a collaborative team environment with other Engineers from various disciplines and the Designer/Drafting team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of electrical and control systems design. Including, but not limited to, low and medium voltage power distribution systems, instrumentation, electrical controls, and overall design documentation.
  • Develop initial concepts and the scope of work on various projects.
  • Partner with designers to prepare detailed design drawings and provide quality checks.
  • Prepare detailed equipment specifications and develop initial concepts.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and provide engineering support during construction phases as well as complete load analyses.
  • Provide on-site construction assistance during installation, commissioning and start-up of equipment and related systems.
  • Perform fieldwork as required by the project, client, and SPEC.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of industry standards and practices and client specific requirements with support of project manager.
  • Perform and support QA/QC protocol for all work.Effectively organize and maintain project-related files, drawings, documentation, and emails on the server per protocol.Demonstrate initiative and ability to take on obstacles and project challenges.
  • Work effectively within a team.

 Qualifications – Required:

  • Experience with key duties and responsibilities described above, including experience from past internships or co-ops
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of industry standards, safety standards, and current design codes
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail

Qualifications – Preferred:

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with SKM
  • Experience with medium and low voltage power distribution
  • Ability to obtain FE/PE certification

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in accordance with normal business hours.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable):

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a general background check and Drug/Alcohol screening.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Pay Range:

Approximately $60,000 – $85,000 with opportunity for end-of-year bonus. Exact compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience skills, and location.
